Our beliefsSt. John's is a Church of England church in the heart of Stafford. Here at St. John's we combine the modern with the traditional to encourage and welcome all members of the family into the community. We hold our regular Sunday services as well as courses and special services for all ages!
Our parishSt. John's is the parish church for Littleworth which stretches across the A518 Weston Road covering large areas such as Tixall Road, Corporation Street, Beaconside as well as including Littleworth's business community, Stafford Hospital, Beacon Barracks (MOD Stafford), St. John's CE Primary School, The Weston Road Academy, Veritas Academy, Staffordshire Technology Park, Staffordshire University and much more!
Our servicesSt. John's welcomes people from all sections of the community as well as people of all ages. We hold regular Sunday services with communion, Childrens' Church activities for the young people and offer refreshments and social time after each service. The church uses a modern AV system which makes the services clearer and easier. We welcome both regular worshippers and visitors. On the first Sunday each month, the church holds a Family Service which is designed to appeal to all ages and is less formal with some popular worship songs. St. John's Youth Groups often lead these events.
Pastoral CareBecause St. John's is such a large parish and not all worshippers can make it to church on Sunday we have a Pastoral Care Team. The Team go out and visit parishioners across the parish and even have a team who takes communion out to them. The Pastoral Care Team ensure that all members of the church community are cared for and continue to be a part of our community, even if they are unable to make it to church regularly.
Church organisationAlthough the church is led by a Rector, the actual management of the church is carried out by a variety of church officials and volunteers. The church is managed by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) which is an elected body which any member of the Electoral Roll may join or elect members to. The work of the PCC is supported by sub-committees dedicated to particular areas of church life such as the Open Doors Group, the Fabric Committee, the Flower Arrangements Group, the Communications Team and the World Focus Group which looks at ways that our local church can support people in less fortunate circumstances across the world. The Rector is supported in his work by two elected church wardens, two deputy church wardens, a verger and other lay ministers.

"Open the doors of your church, Lord, that we might welcome those you lead to us, and go out to those you lead us to. Deepen the wells of your church, Lord, that we might draw from the life of your Spirit and light of your Word. Teach us to pray, Lord, that your kingdom may come and your will be done, now and always. Amen." |
